On my journey to a healthier lifestyle I have come to understand that developing healthy habits should be your #1 priority and that, Good nutrition is an important part of leading a healthy lifestyle, combined with physical activity will reduce the risk of certain diseases, improve your physical appearance, and give your energy level a much needed boost
.
A healthy lifestyle should be a way of living, and not just a temporary fix! I know bad habits are hard to break but once you adapt to a healthier lifestyle you will not regret the decision, because not only will you feel better physically, you will also feel better mentally.
Now I'm going to share some of my lifestyle changes that has help me on my journey to a more healthier lifestyle.
- Limit your intake of processed (pre-packaged) foods. the processing alters the natural components of the food which makes it less beneficial to your body.
- Treat yourself to a non-fat yogurt you can combine your favorite fruit slices and/or sliced almonds. Dairy products such as non-fat yogurt are rich in calcium to strengthen bones and vitamin A which plays a role in making our skin beautiful Non-fat yogurt also contains a friendly bacteria known as probiotics which enhances the digestive process.
- Stay hydrated drink plenty of water, not only will drinking water help you to stay fuller longer so that you don't overeat, drinking water can also promote healthy weight management, flush out toxins in your body, and it is also a good way to boost your immune system. Try adding lemon slices to your water, the lemon will promote hydration, it also aids in digestion and improves your skin quality. Lemon is a good source of vitamin C.
- Stay active, sitting all day isn't good for your heart or for your health. Start tracking your steps, set a goal that is comfortable for you, try 8,000 to 10,000 steps a day. I use Samsung health app. plus my samsung gear watch. There are plenty of free apps to track your steps just by your smartphone.
- Start your day off with a simple task, doing this will likely make your day more productive, you will feel that you have accomplished a small goal, and will encourage you to do more throughout your day. The simple task could be anything such as making your bed, doing a 15 minute yoga session, or even a 10 minute stretch routine.
Remember not all changes have to be drastic, sometimes big changes start with little steps. When setting goals break them up in bite sized chunks, start small work your way up. Don't make it an all-or-nothing experience.
Leave a comment, I would love to know if any of my small changes could make a difference for you! or add some of your changes you have make for a healthier lifestyle.
I have found since improving my food intake that my brain feels better and my eyes are clearer. The word 'diet' has me reaching for chocolate quickly but by just improving my lifestyle gradually I am making a longer term commitment to my body and feeling good. Thanks for the tips!
