Benefits of Rosemary essential oil

Rosemary essential oil  is extracted from the leaves and flowering tops of the plant. With a woody, evergreen-like scent, rosemary oil is typically described as invigorating and purifying.

Rosemary oil has been extensively used and studied since ancient times for a variety of health benefits. Today, it is included in many medicinal preparations, with many potential offerings. Some of them include:

1. Aides in digestion - rosemary benefits, the most well-known quality of rosemary is its powerful digestive benefits. Throughout its long history in western cultures, it has an extremely powerful tradition as a herbal remedy for upset stomachs and digestive tract issues.

As a digestive remedy, there is significant evidence of rosemary’s use for several different gastrointestinal issues. This includes being used for gas and bloating, by calming the stomach and reducing any overactive digestion activity. Because it is also a known anti-inflammatory, this can be particularly useful for stomach issues because they are so often triggered by chronic inflammation. By reducing the inflammatory response, rosemary can subsequently reduce chronic stomach pain.

Rosemary can easily be combined with other herbs known to soothe a dysfunctional gastrointestinal tract, like ginger, honey, and lemon. It can also provide effective and gentle relief from constipation, without resulting in the opposite problem occurring and without resorting to any drugs.

Herbal Remedies for Digestive Issues using Rosemary, There are many methods to use rosemary as a herbal remedy.

The first is to make a rosemary tea, simple, but very effective for digestive issues. Bring water to a boil, and add 3-4 sprigs of fresh rosemary in the water and simmer for about 10 minutes. Turn off and allow the mixture to cool enough to drink. Drink throughout the day to soothe indigestion.

Another way to make use of rosemary is to use it topically, this is an especially useful method for treating cramping and digestive issues caused by abdominal spasms and cramps. Combine a few drops of rosemary essential oil into a tablespoon of carrier oil (coconut oil or olive oil) and gently massage into the skin of the lower abdomen. This will soothe muscle spasms, and gently relax the area for smoother overall digestion. Herbalists recommend this for issues with constipation.

Finally, rosemary can be taken internally by inhaling it as a vapor. The easiest method is to put a few drops of the essential oil on the underside of your wrist, and then smell as needed throughout the day. If the abdominal discomfort is extremely bad, you can also put a few drops into a bowl of steaming hot water, and place a towel over your head creating a steam tent. Inhale deeply. This method works for settling upset stomachs from nausea, vomiting.

2. Stress relief - When used in aromatherapy, Rosemary reduces anxiety plus, when combined with lavender oil, reduces stress by calming and relaxing the nerves. Rosemary essential oil is also known to reduce the level of harmful stress hormones that are released when involved in tense experiences.

In recent years, there have been claims that the oil may be great for hair growth, and it could even prevent hair loss, pointing to Mediterranean cultures’ use of rosemary in hair rinses to promote hair growth for hundreds of years as supporting evidence.

The idea that rosemary oil encourages hair growth comes from the rosemary’s basic health benefits. The plant in essential oil form is said to have anti-inflammatory properties, promote nerve growth and
improve circulation.

Like peppermint essential oil (also used to promote hair growth), rosemary essential oil strengthens circulation. As a result, it could prevent hair follicles from being starved of blood supply, dying off, and leading to hair loss.

Beyond stimulating hair growth, rosemary essential oil is used to prevent premature graying and dandruff. It can also help dry or itchy scalp.
