The importance of setting goals for a healthier lifestyle

Ok, so this isn’t the first time you’ve heard someone talk about the importance of goals, and its definitely not going to be the last!

Setting goals gives you long-term vision and short-term motivation . It focuses your acquisition of knowledge, and helps you to organize your time and your resources so that you can make the very most of your life.

Set small, attainable goals you can reach along the way.

"Even though you may have one main goal in mind for getting in shape, set smaller two-week benchmark goals for yourself."

Find little ways to celebrate meeting your benchmarks on the way to achieving your main goal. Buy a new workout outfit, go dancing with friends, get a massage, etc. Don't be shy about treating yourself for smaller victories.

But have one goal that kind of terrifies you.

"I think everyone should have a goal that slightly terrifies them. It sounds crazy, but if you pick something that is easy it won't change you. If you set your mind on something that is so big it will take something you have never done before to get there then THAT is something that will not only change you, but most likely inspire others as well.

Setting goals for yourself is a way to fuel your ambition. Goal setting isn’t just about creating a plan for your life and holding yourself accountable, its also about giving us the inspiration necessary to aim for things we never thought possible.

Do you want to accomplish something that many people dream about, but few people ever actually accomplish? Unless you make it a goal for yourself and work everyday towards achieving it, why would you ever believe that you could accomplish it? Unless you see yourself slowly making progress, your dreams and aspirations are nothing more than vague notions floating around in your imagination.

Review your goals twice every day in order to be focused on achieving them
People with goals succeed because they know where they're going.
When it is obvious that the goals cannot be reached, don't adjust the goals, adjust the action steps.

Setting goals is very important, when you are on the journey to a healthier lifestyle.
